A local implementation record: replacing an oversized author introduction with a useful profile and a shared article archive. These screenshots show the actual site before and after the change.
The original problem
The author page opened with a large dark banner, an oversized name, and an illustrated placeholder. The first screen introduced the branding but gave readers little access to the article archive. The broader site also used inconsistent spacing across archive templates.
The design decision
The revised profile puts the name, editorial role, biography, and publication links together. An initial stands in for the missing real headshot. Article cards share the same gutters, padding, and metadata as the other archives. A smaller header leaves more space for useful content.
What changed in the structure
The Kadence child theme supplies shared archive, author, related-article, and article styles. A companion plugin holds directory records and the interactive tools. Topic, format, and level are separate fields, so readers can filter by both subject and type of content.
What we checked
We inspected the author page at desktop and narrow mobile widths, checked for horizontal overflow, and followed the article and author links. We also exercised directory filters, empty results, prompt copying, and AGENTS.md generation. These checks describe this local implementation; they do not certify unrelated Codex features.
What still depends on publication setup
A real author photo needs to be supplied by the author. Public newsletter delivery needs to be verified on the eventual domain and delivery service. Content and directory sources should be reviewed when their underlying products change.

From a crowded homepage to a clearer next step
The request
Audit the app and apply the recommendations: make useful skills easier to find, reduce repeated homepage sections, and keep the newsletter reachable.
What changed
The homepage now has one task map, three featured skills with review labels, a visual build example, and a news section. Its existing MailerPress signup follows those sections. Learning-series links moved to My Learning.
Files and content produced
The homepage remains native Kadence and Gutenberg blocks. The AboutCodex Library plugin adds reader tools and their styling; the Skills plugin supplies the featured cards and comparison controls. The original homepage content was snapshotted before the migration.
What we checked
The local route audit after the migration checked 143 routes with no failures. All 36 existing article related-content sections retained three unique links. The new homepage rendered with one H1, one main landmark, and no horizontal overflow at the inspected desktop width.
Limits
These are local structural and browser observations. They do not establish a conversion increase, public loading performance, or search rankings. The skills shown are structure checked; featuring them does not imply workflow evaluation.
